The Mileage of a vehicle running in LPG fuel mode will be based on its general petrol mileage. While running on LPG the mileage will be approximately 10-15% less than the corresponding petrol mileage. Moreover mileage is subject to vehicle condition, driving habits and road condition. Extra mileage is bonus.

SAFETY
Auto gas has an excellent track record of safety aspects. Various crash tests have proven that owing to the strength and integrity of the fuel tank, its safer that petrol and on par with diesel. The auto gas kit installed by an appointed installer consists of a gas storage tank with an electromagnetic auto gas shut off valve, an air-tight box, a gas engine management and gas injectors.

Incase of bi-fuel mode vehicle an electromagnetic shut off valve is added on to the petrol fuel line, which is closed in auto gas operation and open during petrol operation. The LPG supply to the engine cut off if the ignition is turned off. An auto gas tank is fitted with a special filling device to ensure that the tank does not fill more than eighty percent of the volumetric capacity. If in case somebody cuts the pipe work of the vehicle as soon as the gas starts to escape, the excess flow valve will automatically shuts off the supply of LPG out from the tank.

LPG is absolutely safe but it comes with certain conditions.

  1. The important part in a Gas Conversion Kit is pressure reducer which is to be manufactured with high safety standards and has to be tested for at least 40 kg/cm² pressure. So, it is safe if you use a good quality pressure reducer along with quality assembly accessories fitted by a well-trained person with necessary installation safety procedures.
  2. It is safe if the kit is supplied with all approved parts with guarantee for all the parts including all connecting parts.
  3. The conversion must be done with explosive approved tank & mutivalve.
  4. It is safe if trained personnel do proper periodical maintenance of the Gas system.
  5. On a gas converted vehicle fire can be caused either by

Electric short circuit
Incase of electric short circuit, the fire can catch on to the plastic sleeves and other plastic components including the petrol pipe which accelerates the fire. In this case the LPG line will be intact as it has a copper pipe up to vaporizer.

Petrol leakage
Incase of petrol leakage, due to a cut or loose petrol pipe inside the engine room, the fire can start if the leaking petrol falls on a heated exhaust manifold or even with a spark. This is possible in all petrol vehicles as petrol does not require a particular air mixer and ignites very easily.

LPG leakage
Incase of LPG, the fire can only start if the leak is before the vaporizer and only if there is a correct mixer of LPG and Air and a spark at this particular point. Unlike petrol, the LPG flow from the vaporizer to engine works only on suction, so the leakage after the vaporizer is not possible. Incase the pipe cuts between the vaporizer and the engine, the flow of LPG to engine disrupts and the engine stops immediately and automatically the vaporizer cuts off the gas supply to the engine. This is the reason even if the pipe connecting from the vaporizer to the engine burns there will be no gas leak. Apart from this on a running vehicle even if the gas leaks out, due to the air flow in side the engine room it will not get the correct gas air mixer to burn since LPG get diluted in the moving air.
